Interview: Guardarian Team Reflections
We caught up with the Guardarian team right after Token2049 Singapore to get their fresh insights on the conference, crypto trends, and business opportunities. If you’re looking for a trusted bridge between fiat and crypto, here’s what Bassam and Siia had to share.
Q: What were Guardarian’s main goals at Token2049?
- Establish strategic partnerships
- Showcase flexible Buy/Sell/Swap solutions
- Expand presence in MENA and APAC markets
Bassam, CBDO
Q: How important is Token2049 from a strategic perspective?
- This year, the conference highlighted crypto’s transition into the formal financial sphere, including government initiatives, infrastructure development, RWA, and growing demand for stablecoins.
Q: Were there any standout discussions?
- Meetings with Tezos, MetaMask, and SafePal were particularly noteworthy, covering joint products, on/off ramps, and swaps for different markets.
Siia, BD Manager
Q: Your first major crypto conference — how was it?
- Overwhelming and refreshing at the same time. The hardest part was overcoming the feeling of awkwardness. During the first day I felt like an imposter a little bit, you don’t start a bunch of conversations with people you never met every day (at least I don’t 🫣). But once you’re over that, you start enjoying the process.
Q: Most impressive or surprising aspects?
- I got impressed by how simple the communication between people is. I spoke to founders and CEOs of companies, but would never be able to tell what’s their position if they didn’t tell me. The amount of explorers that don’t work inside crypto industry was surprising. Some people were just learning, others looking for a job. It shows how fast paced the industry actually is. Because newcomers can get actually get into the industry or find a job this way. I wouldn’t call anything disappointing, things don’t always turn out perfectly and that’s normal — like pouring rain during an outdoors event of Metamask lol — you can’t predict every single thing that will happen.
Q: How many new contacts did you make?
- I got around 50 contacts only on Telegram in the organized folder. It’s insane to realize that I had to actually speak with each person before taking their contact — the amount of interactions in such a short period of time showed me how our industry actually works.
Q: Feedback on Guardarian?
- People were impressed by the flexibility and variety in our offerings. My favourite part was hearing that the person might not need our services but knows someone who does. Buy/Sell solutions for user onboarding will stay relevant for a while, no matter how sad this might be for crypto native audience who doesn’t want to accept the connection we still have to traditional finance.
Q: Regions with the strongest interest?
- MENA and APAC regions showed the most interest due to limited platforms offering local currency Buy/Sell options. Established markets like Europe, the US, and LATAM already provide multiple access points.
Fun Moments
1. Guardarian’s sticker giveaway was a hit! Which stickers were the most popular among visitors?
It was different for the 2 days of the conference for some reason. The one people talked about during the first day was “Time is money” — incredibly relatable for a fast paced industry like ours. However, when I came back to our stand after some exploring, I saw that the G-OTC whales are gone every time. On the second day everyone was into the 24h crypto market meme.
2. Did you notice any memorable or funny reactions from people collecting them?
They’re a bit different from a typical sticker so people often didn’t understand what it was. Generally, we weren’t the type to start conversations using our merch because it’s not the best way to get a good quality interaction. This was rather an additional detail for people to remember us.
3. How do you think these small interactive activities help build brand awareness and connection at such events?
After events, merch often serves as a memorable reminder of a company, especially when it’s useful — people naturally notice who created it. With so many interactions, extra cues can strengthen connections with potential leads and existing partners.
For example, on the first day I visited Oppi Wallet’s booth, they gave me a bag of items, but the turbo fan stood out — I used it every day in Singapore’s heat. Enjoying the item genuinely helped me feel a real connection with the Oppi team, not just networking politeness. Many thanks to Noyan!
