NFTs Around Us: FIFA, LG & Beyond

7 Sep 2022 | Cryptocurrency news

NFTs, or non-fungible tokens are digital assets that are implemented using blockchain technology – just like cryptocurrencies. But what makes them different is that they are unique – which means that when you buy an NFT, it belongs to only to you and you can always prove it. When they first came out, NFTs were definitely on the controversial side. People didn’t understand them, so they joked around about how a simple JPEG of a monkey could make them millionaires. 🤑 Well, the joke is on them right now as NFTs have recently taken quite a few big leaps towards being integrated into our everyday lives. Let’s take a closer look at the biggest recent developments, starting off with:

NFTs for Football Fans ⚽

While the world is getting ready for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, FIFA is preparing to take a stab at the NFT market by launching their very own FIFA+ Collect NFT platform. Here they will launch a handful of initial NFT collections – a novel way for football fans to engage with their favorite players, moments and more. Similar to collecting sports stickers or memorabilia, this is supposed to be accessible to football fans all around the globe.

They will also be releasing information about special, limited-edition collections that will be dropping sometime after the initial launch. As you can guess, the hype for these is very real. 🔥 FIFA Chief Business Officer Romy Gai said that as we pass the torch to the future generation, football needs to adapt to the new virtual environment. So, launching an NFT platform is an attempt to democratize the ability to own part of the FIFA World Cup. On top of that, the FIFA+ Collect platform will also allow football fans to interact with one another, and for those interested in it, you will be able to access it both on your computer and on mobile all the same.  By the way, have you ever thought of displaying your NFTs on your TV screen? Well, now you can! Read on to know more!👇

NFTs on your TV 📺

Earlier this year, Samsung announced that they’ll be bringing NFTs to their TVs. And lo and behold – a few months later LG decided to double down on this by doing the same.  They even decided to start up their very own NFT marketplace known as LG Art Lab where you can purchase, trade and enjoy being the proud owner of amazing high-quality digital artwork on your own TV.

The platform can be accessed on any LG TV that runs webOS 5.0. But unfortunately, it will only be available for users in the US, at least for now. We know, it’s a bummer.😤 The first of the NFT collections are going to drop on September 22nd, and it will be full of metallic-looking NFTs made by Barry X Ball, a famous sculptor from the US.  While the app is pretty much just an empty placeholder for now, it is sure to be full of NFT collections in the near future, and since all the fundamentals are already here, you can expect to be trading NFTs from your TV screen before the end of this year. If you want to buy an NFT from the comfort of your home, all that you’ll need to do is:

  • Open the LG Art Lab platform
  • Scan the QR code that appears on your screen
  • Go to your Wallypto app to fund the transaction.

As easy as that! 🌟 Of course, you will need to buy yourself some cryptocurrency beforehand, and more precisely – some USDC. Interestingly enough, this US-dollar-pegged stablecoin is the only currency that will be supported on the platform. And now for all the music lovers out there – read on to see how NFTs have just entered the top charts.👇

NFTs Topping Music Charts 🎙️

The music industry has changed a lot in the last decade or so – that’s a fact:

  • Streaming is king 👑
  • CD’s are quite dead 💀
  • Vinyl is having a comeback 💪

And now an entirely new player has entered the scene, and it uses NFTs to unite fans and artists. In August, Warner Records came together with Serenade to launch a new Web3-friendly music format that is solely based on the NFT technology known as Digital Pressing. And the first band to release a record using this novel format is none other than Muse, a world-renowned rock band known for their innovative and experimental approach to music.

The new release quickly climbed to the first place in the UK musical charts, where it is currently still sitting. In addition to that, they became the first artist in history to offer an album under the brand new Digital Pressing format! 🤘 As you can imagine, this new album, titled The Will of the People, sold out in under 25 minutes after its release. Now you can get your hands on a unique copy of this release on the Opensea marketplace.

Conclusion

These are only some examples of the emerging NFT technology. We don’t know where it will lead us, but we can be sure that many more interesting NFT projects will be integrated into our daily lives in the future. The fact of the matter is that as time moves on, we are bridging the gap between digital and real worlds, making this one of the most exciting times to be alive. That is, if you are an NFT enthusiast such as us, of course.😉 By the way, you want to be up-to-date with all the latest crypto news, make sure to tune into our blog. 📖 Ride the wave of digital innovation together with Guardarian. 🌊
